Mission

UNM Food Pantry addresses a critical need of food insecurity by providing food and other hygiene items for UNM students. The UNM Food Pantry team gathers food donations by church members and delivers them several times per month to the UNM Food Pantry on campus. The team communicates with the congregation through in-service announcements and newsletter articles.

¡COMIDA! is a coalition of students, neighbors, and campus partners working together to reduce food insecurity at UNM and CNM. Through collaboration, advocacy, and compassion, we ensure that every student, faculty, and staff member has access to healthy food, dignity, and opportunities to thrive.  ¡COMIDA! started in November 2025 and currently has more than 1/2 dozen congregations participating (including FCUCC). 

Thus far in 2026, we have collaborated on a mega distribution for CNM students to ensure they had what they needed during winter break.  We worked on a project to help the UNM food pantry transition to refillable shampoo and conditioner bottles, both to eliminate plastic waste and to ensure students' needs were met.  We have collaborated with UNM Social Workers to host a SNAP-A-PALOOZA to help students learn about SNAP and apply for it.  We have entered a partnership with Free Flow New Mexico to make 200 period kits per month for CNM and UNM.   We made 1,400 meal kits for CNM Faculty Focus Days and are rescuing 300 bagels weekly and distributing them at the CNM Westside campus. Our work shows that through collaboration, we can have a significant impact on our community, and our united vision reflects reflects our care for all our neighbors and our desire that food is for all!
